Martyrium

What exactly makes a story science fiction? Describing and analyzing this genre was an important part of my final highschool assignment. The other part was creating my own science fiction cartoon.

Description

During my last year in high school, I worked on and finished my final paper: “Martyrium”, a Recipe For a Successful Cartoon (“Martyrium”, ein Erfolgsrezept für einen Comic). I used secondary literature and my own research to outline the history and evolution of the science fiction genre on some 30 pages. This also meant dealing with questions of effective textual and visual storytelling. In the appendix came the fun part: I drew the first few pages of a cartoon set in a fictional medieval army camp where the topic of time plays an unexpectedly important part.
