Description
I was tasked with creating a project based on the words “over the sea”.
“Over the sea” implies distance, the unknown and new. But where can something truly unknown or new be found in our current world? In a world where human kind has mapped out seemingly every aspect of our existence.
What is this unknown territory, this place beyond the sea that feels completely foreign, new and even dangerous? I’d like to argue that it is falling in love, the death of a loved one, a tree being cut down to make room for a new set of flats.
The resulting video work addresses, helplessness, loss, attachement and and gets quite close to the viewer in the process…
