In a window looking onto a pedestrian bridge, passers-by might catch a glimpse of an illuminated screen in the window. And something might return their gaze.
Description
This video installation makes use of found footage to create a looping collage of window scenes from various kinds of movies. 80’s action films and modern thrillers mingle with animated classics and trashy, direct-to-video flicks.
But they all share a particular, specifically composed shot: One or multiple characters look out of a window and react to some unfolding event outside. Us, the observers are located outside the window, adopting the position of this event.
On the whole, one loop is 17 minutes long, above you will find a documentation which is a bit shorter. The concept of |division| was created together with the curator Olga Popova.
